Conference Dinner & Pre Tour- Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)

Known colloquially as the ‘G, Australia’s favourite stadium (built in 1853) is the birthplace of Test cricket and the home of Australian football, holding more than 80 events annually and attracting close to four million people. It has hosted more than 100 cricket Test matches (including the first in 1877) and VFL/AFL Grand Finals.

MCG1

The MCG was the main stadium for the 1956 Olympic Games, hosting all track and field events, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. In 2006, the MCG again played this role, this time for the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The MCG is a 365-days-per-year function facility that is as versatile as any stadium in the world.  Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has staged many blockbuster music concerts, including Madonna, U2, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones and The Police, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986.

For more information, click here.

Delegates also have the option of taking part in a pre-dinner tour of the MCG. For more information on tour features and components, click here.  Buses for the tour will depart from the front of the Convention Centre/Hilton Hotel Bus Zone at 5.30pm.

The conference dinner will be held on Tuesday evening 20th October.  This is an included function in your registration and can be selected when you complete your registration details. Partners are welcome to attend this function and additional tickets can be purchased through the registration system for $135.  For those delegates not attending the MCG tour, buses will depart from the front of the Convention Centre/Hilton Hotel Bus Zone at 6.30pm.

At the end of the evening buses will begin to return at 10.30pm with the last bus departing 11.00pm.  They will return to the bus zone on Clarendon Street, more centrally located to all the hotels.
